BBQ season has begun!

Last weekend was kind of a big deal: we got our BBQ up and running at the new house thanks in no small part to Steve who visited us on Saturday. It took a couple trips to Canadian Tire, but she now burns beautifully. We know that for sure because we've been eating BBQ exclusively ever since.

The inaugural meal was, of course, melt in your mouth, perfectly done steaks with mashed potatoes, gravy, and asparagus done in butter. Mmmmm.

It's amazing how nice it is to have a BBQ a few steps away from your kitchen. Goodbye climbing two flights of stairs carrying food and utensils every time you want to cook. Goodbye and good riddance!

In more annoying news, someone dumped some construction waste on our front lawn consisting of a broken door and wood shards in a garbage bag. Not pleased at all. We really need to get our fence up sooner rather than later. On the plus side, I called 311 yesterday and by this afternoon the debris was gone. Hooray for good public service!

  1. Yay! I'm so glad that the weather is finally nice enough in T.O. that you can enjoy some outdoor grilling. Must be so nice to just step out the door and throw food on the grill rather than hiking up two flights of stairs... If only you could burn your plates like up at TP rather than having to worry about clean up afterwards, eh? :)

    1. The weather *was* cooperating, but unfortunately today is very rainy and bitterly windy. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted and it'll be back before we know it! Funny you should mention burning plates... this weekend Spence cleaned bacon grease out of a pan with some paper towel and said, "it'd be okay if I just burn this one thing in the back yard, right?"

  2. Your meal sounds dreamy! And putting together is quite an acccomplishment as they are usually a royal pain to construct from "scratch". Glad you've got BBQ flame just outside the kitchen door!!!

    1. Luckily the BBQ was already assembled (it's the same one we had at the condo). We just had to get the connector that lets us hook into the house's natural gas line. Or in our case, connectors... No matter, it works!
